editing process

The first step I did in this editing process with a photograph I took at Shadwell on my practice shoot was use the crop tool that is located on the left hand side. When I cropped the photo this grid appears, this is a guideline on how to use the rule of thirds. I have cropped my photograph slightly on the left inwards to make the photo has the rule of thirds apply so the tree is in the first set of boxes on the grid shown below in the screenshot I have taken.

The second step I took was to use the lasso tool which is also located on the left hand side. Once I selected this tool I then drew a circle on the photograph, after this I clicked on “select” at the top of the page and then clicked on “inverse” this is making sure that when I put a colour on top it will only go on the outside of the circle and not the inside, this will create a vinyet effect.

After I selected the inverse I then went to the bottom of the page and selected the “gradient” effect I chose the black and white colours. After this I used the opacity and changed the levels to 36%.

After I changed the gradient I then chose to experiment with the “curves” effect. This gives you three colours, red, blue and green. I changed them all seperatly so I could be 100% sure with what colour effect I want to put on my photo. With all the times of the colours I did the “S” shape, this gives off a nice vintage effect.

I then went onto exposure and chnaged the “Exposure” to -0.85%, “Offset” to +0.0115% and “ Gamma Correction” to 1.15%. Picking these numbers then gave me a frosty effect on top of my photograph.

My final stage of editing is to play around with “Brightness and Contrast” I changed the “Brightness” to 5% and “Contrast” to -145, this gave the image the final touch for me and I saved it as it is.
